"Conversations ...and ...'genuineness' push Return to Gorée into the realm of unforgettable filmmaking." - Jonathan Curiel, San Francisco Chronicle

Return to Gorée, tells of African singer, Youssou N'Dour and the epic journey he takes following the original path of the Atlantic slave trade in order to retrieve traditional jazz music and bring it back to Africa. He want to come to terms with the history of slavery and find a way to commemorate its victims on the island of Gorée, a place that has come to symbolize the slave trade.

Guided in his mission by the Swiss jazz pianist, Moncef Genoud, Youssou N'Dour travels across the United States of America and Europe. Accompanied by some of the world's most exceptional musicians. Together they meet a diverse cast of characters and create music which transcends cultural boundaries.
