On Friday, March 5, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the East Gallery of the Maison Française (Buell Hall) , we will hold an open mike for members of the Columbia University and area community to speak out about the earthquake and recovery, or to read a poem or passage from a work of Haitian literature or a work on Haitian history or culture. Readings can given be in English, French, or Kreyol.To sign up for a time to read or speak, please send an email to Huewayne at: haw2122@columbia.eduVoluntary contributions will be collected at the Read-In to benefit the There is Hope Coalition fund at Columbia University and will be directed toward the medical organization Partners in Health.If you would like to explore books and essays from and about Haiti, you are welcome to visit the Haiti reading shelf that has been created at the Maison Française, on the 2nd floor of Buell Hall.
