    Moscow Art Actor Training/Scenes & monologues from Tennessee Williams & Anton Chekhov

    This session will focus on "etude" work...improvisation based on the text.

    (Saturdays/3 hours, late February - April, 2010)

    Celebrating our Fourth Session of actor training workshops based on the legendary Moscow Art exercises and improvisations, this session is taught by members of the professional Studio Six Company, currently in residence at The Baryshnikov Center here in NYC. Individual, group exercises, games and improvisation/etudes will begin each class, with a focus on texts from Chekhov and Tennessee Williams for a final, open presentation. Fee: $500 for six weeks' classes and private coaching.

    Master Teachers: Director Dmitry Troyanovsky, Director (www.dmitryt.com), and Ben Sargent, Movement (www.studiosixnyc.org), studied in Russia during four years and awarded their Master's Degree. Both teach and/or direct at NYU Tisch Drama, Bard College, ART/Harvard & Strasberg Institute, among others. Also collaborating, Caroline McGee, Acting, served as Director of The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute/NYU Undergraduate Drama, and as Director of The Catholic University MFA Acting Program.     This workshop aims at dispelling conventional and clichéd choices through the awakening of the actor’s imagination, emotional memory and physical awareness in an ensemble environment.
