ANNA AND ANAIS
Celebrating Armenian Folk with the melding of Flamenco

Featuring:
Anna Garano, guitar
Anais Alexandra Tekerian, vocals
Shane Shanahan, percussion
Kinan Azmeh, clarinet

Anna Garano, classical and Flamenco guitarist hailing from Trieste, Italy, has arranged a repertoire of Armenian songs for voice and guitar. Her collaborator here in New York is Anaïs Alexandra Tekerian, one third of the acclaimed Armenian a cappella trio Zulal. For this concert they will be joined by the percussion virtuoso Shane Shanahan, and the renowned clarinetist Kinan Azmeh, in this lyrical, poignant fusion of Flamenco and vocals of the Old World.

One hundred years after the Armenian Genocide, the alternately haunting and playful melodies of an ancient culture find renewed voice in this melding of Flamenco and Armenian folk.
