You are cordially invited to the Third Edition of the New York Forum of Amazigh Film (or NYFAF, formerly Amazigh/Berber Film Festival) on Thursday May 4 and Friday May 5, 2017. These two days of free films explore a range of issues affecting North African indigenous cultures.

This year we are excited to showcase Amazigh films from the Canary Islands with the participation of the actress Laura Perdomo and the producers Antonio Bonny & Pablo Rodríguez.  On Thursday afternoon there will be a live performance of Amazigh musicians Izenzaren. On Friday we will screen the US premiere of Adour with the participation of the filmmaker Ahmed Baidou. Each film will benefit from a Q & A with invited scholars.

Join us for our Call to Discussion on Thursday May 4 at 10:30 where two quest experts will address the challenges of nationalism and globalization. How do Amazigh communities continue to transmit their heritage and build pluralistic societies?

Guest Speakers: Bruce Maddy-Weitzman (Tel Aviv University) and Nabil Boudraa (Oregon State University).

The festival is free and open to all.  Film%20Festival%20NYFAF%20Program%20.pdf
