About the Program
The Chamber Players of the League/ISCM present a concert of new works by French composers who are not well known in the U.S. In their contrasting style and approach, these four works demonstrate the diversity within the French new music scene.

Patrick Marcland: Alto-Solo I, Cello-Solo
for viola and violoncello
François Paris: Sisco Trio
for soprano, flute, and clarinet
About the Composers
François Paris (1961) is known for being part of the young generation of composers using microtonal music. Frequently commissioned, he is the music director of the CIRM-MANCA festival in Nice.
Gérard Buquet (1954) studied composition with ClaudeBallif and Franco Donatoni. Since 2000 he has held a professorship as director of the ‘Ensemble für Neue Musik’ at the Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe, Germany
Patrick Marcland (1944) received the Price George Enesco of SACEM. His works have been commissioned by Radio France, Itinéraire, Ensemble Intercontemporain, and many other organizations, and have been performed globally.
Carlos Grätzer (1956) studied composition with his father, Guillermo Grätzer, and at CNSMD, Darmstadt, and IRCAM. He recently completed commissions for music to accompany silent movies.
