This summer for the very first time, the internationally acclaimed Festival d’Aix-en-Provence is brought to New York audiences, through the telecast of Mozart’s opera Idomeneo, Re di Creta at FIAF’s Florence Gould Hall.A new production created specifically for the Festival d’Aix, the performance will be recorded live on July 10, 2009 at the Théâtre de l’Archevêché in Aix-en-Provence.Written by Mozart at the age of 25, Idomeneo, Re di Creta is a drama per musica in three acts. It is a passionate hymn to youth and to reason that explores the ideas of sacrifice and duty, systems of faith and belief, and the trials of building a bright and hopeful future.
