When Josephine Baker found fame in Paris by performing her scandalous "La Revue Nègre", she raised eyebrows as well as passions.Savary begins his show in a New Orleans devastated by Katrina as a French producer searches for the perfect Josephine with whom to re-create the legendary revue. As the auditions roll out, Savary conjures the history of black music in America’s South as a counterpoint to Baker’s story of racial conflict. Once the perfect Josephine is cast, "La Revue Nègre" is staged as a spectacular event starring Nicolle Rochelle, a Montclair, New Jersey native!
