    Cohen Media Group is proud to announce the release of MY JOURNEY THROUGH FRENCH CINEMA, master filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier’s epic, insightful, and deeply personal history of French cinema, a lifetime in the making. A selection of the Cannes, Telluride, and New York Film Festivals, MY JOURNEY THROUGH FRENCH CINEMA is scheduled to open in New York on Friday, June 23 at the Quad Cinema followed by a national roll out.

    Mr. Tavernier delves into his own vast experience, starting from the earliest films seen as a budding and passionate cinephile, as a way to revisit some of the directors,  actors, craftsmen, and composers who graced French movies between the 1930’s and 70’s, and impacted him throughout his life. With his voluminous knowledge, inexhaustible love of cinema and perspective, only matched by Scorsese’s, Tavernier knows his native cinema inside and out, from giants like Jean Renoir, Jean-Luc Godard, Marcel Carné, and Jean-Pierre Melville - for whom he worked as an assistant -  to

    "Through its outreach program, the French Church of Saint Esprit in New York provides scholarships of $1,000 to students seeking financial assistance to attend an accredited higher-education program of their choice. 

    Applicants will be required, in good faith, to answer a multiple choice test and to write two 300 word essays, one in French, and the other in English. This competition is open to any francophone student from 16 to 24 years old between July 1 and September 30 of the year of the application and resident in the United States and enrolled full time in an Institute of higher education for at least a semester. Entries can be submitted online from July 1st to July 31st EST.
