Cohen Media Group is proud to announce the release of HEAL THE LIVING, rising French director Katell Quillévéré’s deeply affecting study of human interconnectedness. Written by Quillévéré and frequent André Téchiné collaborator Gilles Taurand (Thieves, Wild Reeds), HEAL THE LIVING’s César-nominated screenplay is based on Maylis de Kerangal’s internationally acclaimed novel The Heart, and is scheduled to open in New York on April 14 at the Quad Cinema followed by a national roll out.

Charting with unusual sensitivity and hope how disparate lives are touched by a tragedy, HEAL THE LIVING follows how a car accident settles into motion a chain of events that affects everyone from the parents of the 17 year-old brain-dead teenage boy, to the hospital staff to a mother of two (Anne Dorval) in need of a heart transplant.  Quillévéré weaves together the multi-strand narrative with consummate grace, abetted by a remarkable ensemble cast (including Emmanuelle Seigner as the boy’s mother and Tahar Rahim), elegant camerawork, and a striking score by Academy Award® winner Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Kings Speech).  

Born in Côte d’Ivoire, Kattell Quillévéré studied filmmaking and philosophy in Paris. Her first short À bras le corps and debut feature, Love Like Poison -  winner of the prestigious Jean Vigo Prize awarded to Best First French Film - both premiered in Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight. Her second feature, Suzanne, opened Cannes’ 2013 Cannes International Critics’ Week and was nominated for five César Awards. HEAL THE LIVING is Quillévéré’s third feature film.

One of the most sought-after international actors, French-Algerian Tahar Rahim won two Césars for Most Promising Actor and Best Actor for his breakthrough role in Jacques Audiard’s A Prophet. He has since worked with acclaimed directors Lou Ye, Fatih Akin, and Asghar Farhadi, among others, and will next be seen in Garth (Lion) Davis' Mary Magdalene opposite Rooney Mara, Joaquin Phoenix and Chiwetel Ejiofor.  

César-nominated actress Emmanuelle Seigner’s numerous credits include Jean-Luc Godard’s Detective, Julian Schnabel’s The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Francois Ozon’s In the House, and Roman Polanski’s Bitter Moon and Venus in Fur. She will next be seen in the latter’s Based on a True Story with a screenplay by Polanski and Olivier Assayas. Since 2006, she is also the lead singer of the band Ultra Orange and Emmanuelle.
