Glamorous chanteuse, Yanna Avis, makes her Café Carlyle debut in May with a new show, titled “IN LOVE WITH LOVE.” Ms. Avis will feature the unique brand of sophisticated European cabaret for which she has been critically lauded in The New York Times, The New York Observer, The New Yorker, The New York Post, Time Out New York, Backstage and a dozen other newspapers and magazines around the globe.  The program will be multi-lingual from a variety of influences: Cole Porter, Kurt Weill, Friedrich Hollander and other sophisticates and heartbreakers.

Ms. Avis was the first cabaret performer ever to be invited by Maestro Gian-Carlo Menotti to perform at Italy’s Spoleto Music Festival. On the New York nightclub scene, Ms. Avis has been presented at Feinstein’s at the Regency, the Metropolitan Room, The Supper Club’s former “King Kong Room,” Maxim’s, The Firebird, The Russian Tea Room, “Doubles” at the Sherry-Netherland and soon, the venerable and uber-fabulous Café Carlyle.

“IN LOVE WITH LOVE,” with Musical Director David Shenton at the piano, Tony Macelli on bass Rich Mercurio on drums and Will Holshouser on accordion, will play four performances:

Thursdays, May 9th and 16th at 10:45pm

Fridays, May 10th and 17th at 10:45pm.

Of her previous engagement in New York in 2011, Stephen Holden wrote in the New York Times:

“As the statuesque French chanteuse Yanna Avis sang Cole Porter's great ode to the City of Light, "You Don't Know Paree," on a recent evening, a composite view of the city as imagined by Balzac, Zola and of course, Porter himself, flickered in my imagination….The show is a textbook study in how different French cabaret is from American. Its essence is distilled in a word heard less and less nowadays: chic.”
