The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), New York's premiere French cultural center, is proud to present a new CinémaTuesdays series celebrating the rich history of women’s filmmaking in France. This February and March, Cinéma des femmes: Perspectives on Women Filmmakers will explore a carefully curated selection of women filmmakers that represents a more eclectic list than the expected canon, and includes a U.S. premiere as well as an in-person appearance by one of France’s most acclaimed young directors, Mia Hansen-Løve, to present her debut feature All Is Forgiven (Tout est pardonné).

But What do Women Want? A question as relevant now as it was three decades ago. Two-time César winner Serreau’s documentary focuses on eight different women of varying ages, all talking about the lives they have led and the dreams that propel them forward. Droll, cathartic, and relentlessly insightful, their stories are profound in their universality.
