“Bezness” takes place in one of Tunisia’s beautiful coastline tourist cities and tells the story of a young man trapped between Arab tradition and sex work. Through the journey of this young man who dreams of escape, director Nouri Bouzid criticizes both the restrictions associated with what he calls “the hypocrisy of Islam” and the European ruling on Arab society.

(Directed by Nouri Bouzid, 1992, 100 min, Tunisia, Drama, French with English subtitles.)

WINNER Golden Bayard for Best Actor, Abdellatif Kechiche - Namur International Festival of French-Speaking Film, 1992.
