Learn about French history and culture in Greater New York. New Rochelle, a French city, founded by Huguenot refugees from La Rochelle, is 35 minutes from Grand Central.

French was the official language here until the 1830's.

And Tom Paine was a member of the Assembly, Première République française, and helped draw the Constitution.

Paine was condemned to death and jailed for his opposition to regicide. He wrote "The Age of Reason" in the Paris jail; and narrowly escaped with his life.
