Why a French-English Dual Language Program in Queens?


The borough is one of the most diverse in the whole world, it has a lot of families coming from abroad or open to
other languages and cultures.


* For Francophones and French speaking families (Quebec, West Indies, Africa, Lebanon…)
- Who want their children to keep their culture and language
- Who need a FREE public school program that is supported and acknowledged by the
French Embassy


*For English speaking families
-Who want to give their children an edge by offering them another language at an early age.
-Who need to give them more opportunities for their future.
Why PS151?


* International Baccalaureate grant awarded to the school and this year PS151 will be building on their
current academics and providing enrichment above and beyond the core curriculum.


* Math Program – EnvisionMATH on line program that offers parents the opportunity to look inside the child’s day to
day learning and sees his / her progress.


* Environmental Program incorporated into the core curriculum, such as composting / gardening / and more.


* New Science Lab -The A+ Mobile Science Lab with HP technology. Each one contains over one hundred
lessons based on NY state’s core curriculum and a teacher’s guide to assist in lesson design and evaluation. Some
things the children will use are: Electronic Microscope, Class set of handheld PCs, Class set of SmartQ probes and
sensors, and so much more.


* New Library - dual language books available.

Celebrating - Galette des Rois

Celebrates the holiday of Epiphany (01-06-11) the day when the 3 Kings visited the
Baby Jesus. As part of French tradition, a bean or small china fève (favor) is hidden
in the cake. The person who finds the fève in his or her slice becomes king or queen for
the day.

The Movie is called Azur et Asmar
Directed by Michel Ocelot, 2006.Animated. 99 min. With the voices of Patrick Timsit, Cyril Mourali
In French WITH English subtitles. Set in medieval Maghreb, thisbeautifully rendered animated film tells the story of two boys, Azur andAsmar, raised as brothers by the same nanny, who tells them enchantingstories about a fairy waiting to be released from captivity by a heroicprince.
