    Our fast-paced classes are designed to help you learn to speak French with confidence and make friends with a wonderful group of like-minded foreign language lovers. The class culminates in a big cultural party where you'll get to practice the language with native speakers, eat delicious food from the region and, if you choose, present the  theater scenes you work on during the semester in a relaxed, friendly environment (no one is forced to perform). There will be actors in this class but no acting experience is necessary. All you need to bring to this class is a passion for international culture and a spirit of adventure!

  • Description: This 10 session acting workshop incorporates voice work, physical improvisation and scene study. In keeping with our mission to promote international theatre by living artists, we will draw on texts by contemporary playwrights from around the world. Students will have the choice to work on  American texts or translate their scene or monologue into English from a native language.  The class will include regular visits to international theatre events followed by discussion.  The course will culminate in a performance for theater professionals and friends.  We seek to create a diverse class that includes many different countries and languages. Our ideal student has a deep curiosity about cutting-edge international theater, a love of play, a passion for understanding the human experience and an ensemble spirit.  Limited to 20.

    -Quand: Le samedi 27 Août-

    Où: Au Pearl Studios

    -De 13h à 16h30 de l'après-midi-3h30 avec une pause "snack"

    -Pour les enfants, les adultes et les familles-L'atelier se déroulera en français-Les enfants de moins de 5 ans doivent être accompagnés d'un adulte  

    Les participants apprendront à fabriquer différents types de marionnettes théâtrales (main, tige, doigt) , puis les feront vivre sur scène.

     

    L'atelier mettra l'accent sur :

    -La fabrication d'une marionnette, du design à la touche finale-Ensuite, de votre création, émergera un vrai personnage: qui sera votre marionnette?

    -Trouver des moyens de vous exprimer à travers ce personnage (à travers des improvisations, avec de la musique...)

    -Inventer une histoire à jouer avec les marionnettes fabriquées

    -Et, enfin, collaborer avec les autres participants de l'atelier dans une représentation incorporant tout ce que vous avez appris.

    Make Music New York began as La Fête de la musique in Paris in the 80’s The free outdoor music fest has met with such success that it now takes place in countless cities worldwide during the summer solstice.  This year, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and Bureauexport the French Music Export Office have teamed up for a unique program of concerts, parties, and screenings. 

     

    On June 21st, a free concert by French-American electro pop trio LIPTEASE at the French Embassy (wine and cheese bien sûr!) will preceed a Tribute to Serge Gainsbourg in Central Park.     St Yves day has become in recent years a date on the calendar where Bretons everywhere celebrate Brittany and all things Breton. This year will be no different with over 200 events organized worldwide.

    2011 will mark the 5th year Breton events are celebrated in NY to celebrate St Yves.

    Last year's NY events were centered on honoring Breton artist Youenn Gwernig. A poetry reading of Youenn's works in English, Breton, and French; a documentary in Breton on his life shown at NYU; a concert; and fest noz were all part of the festivities.  

     

    The 2011 edition will focus on musical exchange of traditional and contemporary cultures between Brittany-India with jazz as a horizon. 

    This mixing of cultures based on exchange and improvisation will offer opportunities of exploration and artistic expression among the 5 talented musicians coming from Brittany and locally based Indian and jazz musicians.
