The sound of Stromae, moving to his own new beat, offers a more “danceable” version of the technotronic and underground house music of early 90s Belgium. The term refers to a new beat close to acid house and techno along with its precursor, 80s Chicago house music.

Stromae, whose real name is Paul Van Haver, began as young prodigy immersed in hip- hop and electro beats and passionate for drums and percussion. Born to a Rwandan father and a Belgian mother, Stromae now lives in Brussels where he works from his home studio. Composer, lyricist and producer, he writes his own songs and performs them later in innovative ways.

In 2009, on a webcam, he played the role of a music teacher. With posts like “How to compose a song”, he introduced several of his own tracks, including “Alors on danse ” (Lesson No. 8 of the famous “Lessons Stromae”).

Discovered by users, the maestro of rhythm and rhyme would never have imagined that one day he’d cause a contagious frenzy extending from Belgium to Germany
