Head teacher, elementary (French-speaking)

Science, Language, and Arts International School has a strong emphasis on the natural sciences and the arts. Children learn through hands-on project-based work. We are seeking highly enthusiastic and progressive-minded full-time teachers.

New York State certification is NOT required.

REQUIRED:
* NATIVE fluency in French           

* Experience with children in 1st to 3rd Grade

* Experience teaching in an immersion environment

* Interest and experience in collaborative teaching

* Minimum bachelor’s degree in education or a related field

 
STRONG PLUS:
* Experience with and interest in progressive teaching approaches (Bank Street, whole-child, Montessori, Freinet, etc.)

* Lead teacher experience

* Experience working with children of mixed ages and abilities

* Background in science and/or the arts


Teachers will be thoroughly trained -- both pre-service and in-service throughout the year -- in our approach and methods, and work closely with the director, curriculum director, and other head teachers to develop curriculum and lesson plans. This is a highly collaborative position.

Salary commensurate with experience.
