POSITION: Saint Stephen of Hungary School seeks an experienced, part-time, elementary school French teacher for the 2019-2020 academic year. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed teacher to contribute to the success of the faculty and the achievement of students as well as grow the French language program. Candidate will work directly with the lead French teacher. The faculty is committed and passionate to expand the current French program across all grades.

This position to begin September 1st for the 2019-2020 academic year.

The ideal candidates should be:

• Experienced teaching French using partial immersion approach (60% + target language)
• Demonstrate the ability to plan lessons using authentic literature, games, and songs
• Committed to achieving excellence
• Flexible, diligent and willing to continually improve as a professional
• Native or near native fluency in French
• Excellent speaking and writing skills

Requirements and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a willingness to integrate French language instruction with other disciplines
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to reinforce language development within the curriculum as a whole
• Assess student’s work accurately and regularly, giving thoughtful and meaningful feedback
• Ability to individualize the learning of all students
• Strong communicator both orally and in writing with faculty, parents & students
• Ability to plan and implement creative, inspiring lessons which are aligned with the school’s French- curriculum
• Ability to assess and monitor student progress and improvement in reading, writing and oral language

Qualifications:

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary education or related field; (MA in French, Foreign Language Instruction or a related field – not required but preferred)
• Preferred New York State Teaching License

Job Type: Part-time with potential become full-time

Experience:

• Teaching: 3 - 5 years of preschool – 3rd (Required)
