          Be a teacher in the French Heritage Language Program

 

The French Heritage Language Program is designed to support and enrich the teaching and learning of the French language for recent immigrant students of French-speaking background enrolled in New York City and Miami public schools. Our primary objective is to help students maintain proficiency in French, as well as a connection to their respective cultures and identities, all while increasing their opportunities for success in their new American environment.

This is a part-time position, available immediately. Candidates must be allowed to work in the US and will be required to request fingerprinting at the NYC Department of Education.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $40 to $50 per teaching hour, depending on degrees and experience. You will also receive an unlimited Metrocard each month and be paid during school recesses (except during the summer).

è When?
Initially, 2 hours of teaching per week on Tuesday afternoon + occasional replacements
Create your own lessons, organize your own teaching material
Occasional field trips

International High School at Prospect Heights, 883 Classon Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11225 (Subway: 2, 3, 4, 5)

è Requirements
-Degree in international education, language teaching, or French studies
-Native or near-native fluency in French. Fluency in English a plus.
-Must have experience in the teaching of a language or cultural curriculum
-Experience with school groups

      -Organized, flexible, energetic, and able to engage a group of students.
