Middle School Interim Head/Program Consultant

International School of Brooklyn (ISB) provides an intimate, progressive & multicultural education that is

Located in Carroll Gardens, ISB is an authorized International Baccalaureate/Primary Years Programme
(IB/PYP) and language immersion (French/English and Spanish/English) school, which will launch its
Middle School in September 2012 and High School in September 2015.

ISB seeks a Middle School Interim Head/Program Consultant to build the Middle School program in
anticipation of its opening in Fall 2012. Along with the Head of School, beginning in Summer 2011, this
individual will be responsible for the following aspects of the program:

• Curriculum development (broad strokes scope and sequence for Grades 6-8; detailed scope and
sequence for Grade 6)
• Staff recruitment
• Student recruitment
• Program marketing

During the course of this year-long position, the Middle School Consultant will also aid the Head of
School in a search for a Middle School Director, who will assume leadership of this new program in July
2012.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience implementing the International Baccalaureate’s Middle
Years Programme and/or Diploma Programme. The candidate will be at least bilingual, preferably
speaking Spanish or French as one of the languages, and will be committed to working in a highly
collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.

Candidates must have prior experience working at the middle and/or high school level as well as a deep
understanding of the unique developmental needs of middle school students. Candidates should also have
experience communicating effectively with parents of middle school students.
