Whether you are hoping to raise a bilingual child or just thinking about introducing your baby to a new language, have we got the event for you!
We’ve put together an esteemed panel of local bilingual experts , who will discuss everything relating to raising a bilingual child here in Brooklyn and will answer all of your questions, including:
* At what point should a parent introduce a second language – how much and how often?
* If I introduce a second language, will my child experience speech delays?
* What are the best methods to learn a second language — bilingual, full immersion, once a week?
* What are the merits of raising a bilingual child if both parents only speak English? What can we do to help our child?
* How do children of different language levels learn together?
* What are the best Brooklyn resources for raising a bilingual child?
Sharon Ng of Lango Brooklyn will moderate the discussion. Our panelists include:
* Graciela Carriqui, Founder, Musica Para Mi
* Pascale Setebon, Director, The Language and Laughter Studio
* Felicity Miller, Director, Hands On World
* Jennifer Wilkin, Linguist, language textbook author, and parent of trilingual child
The participating speakers will be raffling off foreign language books, CD’s and other fun prizes for some lucky babies in attendance!
And (yes, there’s more), all moms who attend this Thursday afternoon event (intended for moms/dads and their babies, newborn to 1 yr of age) will receive free admission to World Brooklyn: Tips to Raising a Bilingual Child, Sunday, January 10 – a similar seminar that will also include demos from many of the featured vendors — so that you can come with baby on Thursday and you, your spouse or/and toddler can then attend the weekend event for free. Moms who are back to work and eager to learn more about the weekend event, more details will be posted soon.

Will there be a similar events in the months to come? This sounded like an awesome opportunity for parents looking to raise bilingual children.
