1) Rising Super Star French Caribbean soprano Magali Leger will make her New York debut with the orchestra Ensemble du Monde and prominant African American conductor, Marlon Daniel.2) she will perform rare arias of Gretry and Saint-Georges. The arias of Saint-Georges (a neglected composer of African descent) have never been performed in America and have been transcribed and realized from the original manuscripts.3) This concert hails the inauguration of the the first Saint-Georges International Festival to be held in the birth place of the composer, Guadeloupe. Magali Leger is the Artist-in-Residence for this festival. Magali is from Guadeloupe the birth place of Saint-Georges.4) The opera is planned to be staged for the festivals 2011 season, perhaps recorded with Magali Leger as the lead female role. This is the big teaser for the opera and the festival. This will be a PREMIERE of 17th century work in the US because Saint-Georges music has been looked over for centuries.http://kaufman-center.org/merkin-concert-hall/event/ensemble-du-monde-classical-innovators/
