Bonjour!

P.S. 110 launched a French Dual Language Program in 2011. Since then, we have graduated four classes (as of June 2020) We have grown to have two FDLP classes per grade in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade. When there are two french classes in a grade we utilize the side by side model, one day in English with an English teacher and one day in in French with a French teacher. Currently our 4th and 5th grade FDLP Classes receive instruction of a half day in French and a half day in English. We currently have one 4th grade class and one 5th Grade class (as of May 2021).

The entry point for the program is Kindergarten. (There are no dual language classes in Pre-K.) Accepted families are asked to make a commitment to the program and to keep their child in the French Dual Language Program through the end of Fifth Grade. There are very limited seats available for French-speaking children in the First Grade and up.

Each French Dual Language class is comprised of two language populations: English-dominant students (Anglophones) and French- fluent students (Francophones). Students learn French from the teacher as well as other students.

Students in the FDLP follow the same school-wide curriculum as all the other, non-FDLP classes. Students are instructed in French and English equally throughout the year in their classrooms in all subject areas. Specialty classes such as: Computer, Music, Physical Education, Science, and Visual Art, are taught in English.
