Job Title: Full-Time Teacher

Department: Language Center Montclair

Reports To: Montclair Language Center Director

Designation: Exempt Full-time

Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000 depending on one’s experience and educational achievement

 

FIAF Montclair is looking for a full-time teacher of French as foreign language to teach French language classes to children (2 to 11 years old), teens (11 to 18 years old), and adults (18+ years old) from beginner to advanced levels including French for native speakers for the younger audiences (2 to 18 years old).

Start Date:

January 2, 2024.

Schedules: Tuesday through Saturday (fall, winter and spring sessions), and Monday through Friday (summer session). 35 hours a week including teaching hours, and other pedagogical and administrative tasks. 12 weeks of paid time off.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

o   Conduct research to develop age and level appropriate learning materials, language games, and other teaching aids to be incorporated in structured and creative lesson plans.

o   Teach French in person and/or online to toddlers, teens and adults at various levels including for native French for native French speakers (toddlers, kids, and teens only).

o   Use a variety of instructional methods relevant to the audience to stimulate the learning process and the students’ abilities, nurture cooperation and sharing.

o   Assess students’ performance and progress to ensure they are mastering the skills on a regular basis.

o   Organize learning material and resources.

o   Cooperate with administration staff.

o   Follow and comply with FIAF teaching standards.

o   Assist with new students’ placement test.

o   Proctor and grade official French exams (DELF, DALF, TCF, TEF, etc.)

o   Attend regular meetings and trainings.

o   Keep abreast of the latest trends and best practices in the field of teaching French as a foreign language.

o   Be eligible to work in the U.S. 

o   Be fluent in French.

o   Be available to teach twice a week until 9PM on weekdays, and on Saturday from 9AM to 4:30PM during the fall, winter and spring sessions.

o   Proven comparable experience as a Teacher of French as a foreign language.

o   Have a love for teaching both children and adults.

o   Be tech-savvy.

o   Have excellent knowledge of the latest education theories and practices in the field of foreign language teaching.

o   Have excellent knowledge of the French and Francophone cultures.

o   Have strong communication skills.

o   Master’s degree in teaching French as a foreign language or other relevant bachelor’s degree/certificate (Licence FLE, DAEFLE, or equivalent)

o   Have great communication and organizational skills.

o   Have patience and flexibility.

o   Be Cool-tempered and have positive attitude.

o   Be firm but have a kind personality.

o   Having creative and artistic skills is a plus.
