Je vous adresse tout d’abord mes meilleurs vœux pour la nouvelle année!
Je travaille pour la Fédération Départementale de la Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture (MJC) et je recherche un groupe de jeunes américains qui souhaiteraient participer à un échange international (France/Allemagne/Etats-Unis).
Présentation :
Nous nous situons au Nord Est de la France (c’est un territoire qui fut très affecté par la première guerre mondiale). Depuis 2004, nous organisons chaque été, en partenariat avec les communes avoisinantes, un chantier de rénovation des anciennes tranchées de guerre avec environ 20 jeunes de 13 à 20 ans. Depuis 2004, c’est plus de 100 jeunes qui ont œuvré dans la boue et ont participé activement à ce projet. Le site est mis en place pour permettre aux jeunes de comprendre comment leurs grand-pères et arrière-grand-pères ont vécu cette partie de l’Histoire.
Pas très loin du chantier se trouve un Cimetière Américain et la ville de Verdun, organise chaque année un spectacle grandiose qui s’appelle« des Flammes à la Lumière ». C’est un son et lumière interprété par près de 300 bénévoles, de nationalités différentes, qui montre comment, dans l’horreur de la guerre, certains ont favorisé la paix.
Il nous paraitrait important et symbolique que, cette année, ce chantier puisse se réaliser entre jeunes Français, Allemands et Américains. Le prochain chantier se déroulera durant une dizaine de jours, en juillet 2011.

First, I wish you all the Best for the New Year!
We are a French association for Youth and Culture and we are looking for an American Young people group which would like to participate to an international Youth exchange (France/Germany/USA).
Presentation :
We are living in theNorth-East of France (this is a territory which was very affected during thefirst World War) Since 2004, we organize, in association with the towns nextdoor and each summer, a construction to resurrect the old war trench with agroup of approx. 20 young people from 13 to 20 years old. Since 2004, this is more than 100 young people who participated to this project. The site is made toenable to the Young People to understand how their Grandfather and Great Grandfather have lived this part of the History.
Not far from the site is an American Cemetery and the City of Verdun organize each year a very famous show called “From Flames to the Light”. This is a sound and light show of the Battle of Verdun. It has been built sothat this event is every year looked back to understand all the horror, but also to work in favor of peace. This show is a very beautiful message of peace!
This year, we would like to welcome German and American Young People to share with us this so beautiful experience. (July 2011 - approx. 10 days)
