Abdoulaye Sadji (1910-1961) is one of the most eminent African writers of his generation, but his work—including both fiction and theoretical writings—remains relatively unknown. The centennial of Sadji’s birth provides an opportunity to revisit his work and to look back at a century of intellectual production in Francophone Africa. This conference begins with a lecture by Aminata Sow fall, followed by a full day of presentations on the figure of the intellectual in both colonial and post-colonial francophone societies.
