Happy to announce that it's now official! The School for International Studies (Cobble Hill, Brooklyn) in partnership with the French Embassy and French American Cultural Exchange (FACE Foundation) will become New York City's first French Dual Language Program 6-12 International Baccalaureate program.The school is a NYC public school.Here's Principal Juman's message:Dear Parents, It is my absolute honor to announce the start of an exciting partnership between the School for International Studies (SIS) with the French Embassy and French American Cultural Exchange (FACE Foundation). As a candidate school for the Middle Years International Baccalaureate Program (IB) we are committed to a diversity of culture, learning styles, and languages which now include French, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese. As a partnership, we are committed to exploring a Bilingual French Program that would serve 22-30 students during the 2015-16 school year. The program would consist of:1. One 6th grade Humanities class -
2. An after school program from 2:30-5pmThis program would be reliant on community interest and enrollment with the potential to grow and expand into other grades over time. We are considering the option of a program in the 9th grade in September 2016. In high school, students will have the opportunity to gain a third language in either Spanish or Mandarin Chinese and graduate with an IB Diploma making them competitive candidates for college around the world.
