Recently I started a business that creates products from recycled material. We use all kinds of things from clothing to leftover wood. Any way I was researching the net for services that would help me promote my business with out costing me anything. I found several other businesses that promised you the world and then charged you for the country! I sell products from our site on etsy, craigslist, ebay, and so on and you all know that if your not on the top or on top of the game your not going to sell nothing so I was looking for an image hosting site with templates to help make my post and sites more attractive and professional, even though my business is ran from home not an expansive office building. I came across a free 100% free that is site that host images and templates for free. I love it so I wanted to share it with others in the same boat as me. Amuse-Bouche No. 10: The Language of Loveby Julia FreyAvoir le béguin is to have a crush, but je t’ai dans la peau (I’ve got you under my skin) has nothing to do with love. That’s lust.In the United States, we pull petals off daisies: “loves me, loves me not.” In France, where hairs are not split, but coupés en quatre (cut in quarters), plucking marguerites has SEVEN choices: Il m'aime, un peu, beaucoup, tendrement, passionnément, à la folie, pas du tout (he loves me, a little, a lot, tenderly, passionately, madly, not at all). Régine, mariée, divorcée, remariée, my informant in matters of the heart, explains:“If he is fou d'elle (crazy about her), he’d say je t’aime d'amour (with true love), de toute mon âme (all my soul) de toutes mes forces (ditto strength), ardemment (ardently), plus que le jour (more than the day), plus que ma vie (more than life itself). But his sweetheart would probably dismiss je t’idolâtre (idolize) as theatrics. And je te vénère (revere) would look like idolatry to good Catholics or Calvinists.“Je suis amoureux de toi (I'm in love with you) goes the other way, towards ‘smitten,’ and even ‘I've got the hots for you.’ Avoir le béguin is to have a crush, but je t’ai dans la peau (I’ve got you under my skin) has nothing to do with love. That’s lust.“Don’t forget s’amouracher. If you say ‘elle s’est amourachée de X,’ you imply she’s in love with a person you think is unworthy. After a breakup, someone may say ‘je me suis amouraché de lui/d’elle’ which implies ‘I goofed, I was stupid, I was crazy’ or ‘he/she dumped me.’“Friendship also makes fine distinctions: Je t’aime bien means ‘I like you a lot.’ Je t’aime beaucoup is stronger: ‘You mean a lot to me.’ But it has nothing to do with LOVE, i.e., LUV. It would be an absolute bummer to hear that from your amant (lover). Je t'aime de tout mon coeur means tendrement but is not necessarily LUV. A grandmother might say that to her grandchildren. Je te chéris (hold you dear) is a bit old fashioned. I remember a friend from the Sorbonne who used to say ‘Je chéris mes amis, je chéris mes souvenirs (memories),’ and so on, but he never said ‘Je te chéris’ to his mistress, whom I knew well.“The problem is partly that in English the word ‘friend’ can include people you hardly know. In French we have copain/copine (pal), camarade (buddy), petit ami (boyfriend), petite amie (girlfriend), but becoming an ami/e (true friend) takes time. Amant , pas nécessairement!”“The Surrealists demanded l’amour fou (crazy love). You had to perdre la tête (lose your head), aimer à la fureur (rage with love). Un amour éperdu (distraught, frantic) is violent but not exactly happy.”Indeed, the French like to be clairs, logiques, méthodiques, rationnels, solides, like the philosopher Descartes. But with so many words for passion, how can they say they’re cartésiens? Even Descartes had a love child with his Dutch cleaning lady. La maladie de l’amour is epidemic. Marguerite Duras in her 1986 novel La Maladie de la Mort considered it fatal. It certainly was for love-struck heroines like Chimène and Phèdre, who die in well-known French tragedies: Corneille’s Le Cid and Racine’s Phèdre. Bérénice, the heroine of two tragedies, one by each playwright, lucked out. She was merely horribly unhappy.Maybe that’s why Albert Cohen’s novel Belle du Seigneur (movie version out soon) has a cult following. It’s a 1,110-page satirical réquisitoire (indictment) of la grande passion. Its theme? La folie (the insanity, folly) of romantic love.© Julia Frey 2009

Kareen Mallet is a fine and delicate young woman very dedicate to her work who therefore is always busy. She is the senior fashion director women's ready-to-wear for the Neiman Marcus group fashion services which includes Bergdorf and Neiman online. She is living in NYC since 1995.Check A new York life

What makes your job so special to you ? My job is to be the fashion conscience for the Neiman Marcus Group. I cover all the ready-to-wear and I get to see the fashion industry with a global view, from the struggling young designer to the established ones. I work with an enormous pool of talented people in the greatest city in the world. What does NYC bring to you ? The streets in NYC are the best runways. I get a tremendous amount of inspiration from just walking around. There is a level of energy and constant newness that you can not find anywhere else. What does NYC take out from you ? I guess it takes the French out of me a little. Because of that constant energy, I am always on the go and forget "l'art de paresser". If anything, the city gives more than it takes. What are your projects ? I just got back from 2 weeks vacation in Porto-Vecchio, Corsica, so right now I have to get my head back into work. I am working on Spring 2010, always scouting for new talents and appropriate trends to keep the Neiman Marcus Group as the dominant fashion retailer.Kareen's favorite restaurants.
I like little inexpensive hidden places: Burger Joint, La Esquina, Freemans. Bagatelle is fun for dinner for a Euro ambiance. I like the restaurant at Bergdorf Goodman on the 7th floor for a nice quiet lunch where is, I think, the best NYC view on Central Park and the Plaza. Mariebelle in Soho has the best hot chocolate (served European style) in a whimsical environment.
I enjoy Le Pain Quotidien on 40th Street, right around my office it is my little retreat during the day for a cappucino and a brioche with the company of a designer or a friend.Kareen's secret place is a tiny little shop Macaroons on 36th street and 7th ave, where they served the best macaroons, crepes and delicious French sandwiches.

New York et ses chicks - Les Pintades

Le Figaro Littéraire review :'"Le titre. Les Pintades à New York. Puis on dévore. A table. C'estchaud.

Jacob-Duvernet,

Joseph CilonaJoseph Cilona is the type of guy you want to know in NYC. The city is incredibly appealing for the crazy amount of stuff that goes on. It’s pure life. But NYC is also strenuous and grueling relationshipwise. Not to mention the complete absence of silence. Therefore, shrinks and offshoots are requested : having someone with who you can share your thoughts just for the sake of it, it’s priceless. And it’s exactly what Joseph does and loves doing. Can you introduce yourself? I’m a clinical psychologist and personal coach in private practice in Manhattan. I work primarily with high profile creative artists, entertainers, creative professionals and law professionals. I’m also an author, I do psychology-related consulting, and I provide expert advice and commentary for Newsweek, Wall Street Journal, NY Daily News, Boston Globe, MSNBC, Health Magazine, Therapy Times, Cosmopolitan, and others. What makes your job so special to you? People often ask me how I deal with “listening to people’s problems all day.” When you are well matched with a therapist or a coach, there are tremendous rewards on both sides of the relationship. There are so few relationships and situations in which we encounter raw honesty and authenticity. Much of what is beautiful and compelling in life is revealed through those things. I have the unique honor of encountering those things everyday in my work. What does NYC bring to you? NYC really surprised me. I wanted very much to live and work in Paris, but was ultimately unable to due to bureaucratic issues. I settled on moving to NYC begrudgingly. Within a year’s time of living here it went from one of my least favorite to most favorite cities in the world. NYC was definitely and “acquired taste” for me, but now one I could never live without. There is something new and interesting and adventures of all sorts to be found every day here. What does NYC take out from you? A lot of taxes! What are you working on? I’m currently researching my second book, a sequel to The Path: Life Explained in 100 Pages (a retelling of Kahlil Gibran’s 1923 classic The Prophet).RB

Joseph’s websiteHis favoritesCheap store: As a former Bostonian, I’m still partial to Filene’s basement for the occasional fantastic deal. I also like the Century 21 store out on Long Island. I think the good finds and sizes sometimes last longer out there.Expensive store: Mantiques Modern. You’ll find something new and amazing every time you visit.Restaurants: I LOVE the Octopus takoyaki at Otafuku in the East Village. It’s not even really a restaurant, just a tiny counter that sells authentic Japanese street food. I also love the curry chicken noodle soup at Nooch in Chelsea, the chocolate almond croissant at la Bergamote (you’ll feel like you’re in Paris), and the sushi at Kiku Sushi (it’s not for you if you’re looking for glam or hip, but the sushi is outstanding and very reasonably priced).Secret place: I don’t know how secret it is, but I love the Russian Turkish Baths in the East Village for an afternoon of sweating and a good cheap massage. Go from the hottest (Russian) sauna into the freezing cold dipping pool for an intense natural high.
