FIAF Presents TILT Kids Weekend

FIAF Presents TILT Kids Weekend

The beloved TILT Kids Festival, which has presented adventurous and sophisticated art and ideas for audiences of all ages since 2016, returns for an entirely virtual edition over the weekend of March 20–21.

Enjoy wonderful stories during Drag Queen Story Hour, solve a mystery crime caper during an interactive theater performance from Broken Box Mime Theater, and create your own artwork in a live drawing workshop streamed from oartist Kris Di Giacomo’s Paris atelier.

The schedule of events follows. All times are EDT:

Drag Queen Story Hour
Saturday, March 20 at 10:30am

Drag Queen Story Hour returns to FIAF to create a virtual space where kids—and adults—can present themselves in their own fabulous ways and how they wish. In this live 45-minute program, Harmonica Sunbeam of Drag Queen Story Hour NYC will read a selection of French and American favorites in English: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, Edmund the Thing by Astrid Desbordes, and Feather by Remi Courgeon. After the story time, kids, with the help of their adults, will be able to ask Harmonica Sunbeam their burning questions.

Le Mystère by Broken Box Mime Theater
Saturday, March 20
Ages 3-6: 3pm
Ages 7-10: 5pm

Zut alors! Important artifacts have gone missing from the FIAF building. This sounds like a case for the Broken Box Kids Detective Agency! With your help, Junior Detective Becky Brevet and Chief Matty L’Orange will try to crack the mysterious case! Join the team of junior detectives as they search for the criminal mastermind and attempt to return the stolen treasures to its home.

Drawing Workshop with Illustrator Kris Di Giacomo
Sunday, March 21 at 11am

Live from her studio in Paris, children’s book illustrator Kris Di Giacomo brings her colorful universe to TILT for the first time. Over the course of this 30-minute workshop, we’ll examine the world through the perspective of pigeons. We’ll compare and contrast those who live in New York with their cousins in Paris, reveal some of their secrets, and dabble in techniques of anthropomorphism (a fancy word for giving animals human characteristics).

TILT Kids Weekend is supported by Kids Trail, a program developed by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States in partnership with FACE Foundation.
