Chumley's

During Prohibition Chumley's was a speakeasy (an illegal establishment).  During Prohibition Chumley's avoided being shut down by paying off the local police.

During Prohibition (1920 - 1933) it was illegal to transport, import, produce or sell alcoholic beverages.

In 2007 Chumley's was destroyed by a fire but it reopened in 2016.

If you would like to visit, go to 86 Bedford Street, New York, NY 10014, and look around for it.  There is no sign because it was originally an illegal establishment.  Their website is www.chumleysnewyork.com.
