  • Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: Woody Allen's Next Muse?

    June 22, 2009, France Today

Mia Farrow, Diane Keaton, Scarlett Johansson...Madame Sarkozy? Woody Allen sure hopes so. In Paris to promote his newest film, the comedy "Whatever Works" starring Larry David, the legendary America director told RTL radio that he hopes to some day cast the French First Lady, former supermodel and current pop singer Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, in one of his films. His next movie, quite conveniently, is set to shoot in Paris next summer.

"There are a lot of ways I could use her, though I don't have a story for her at the moment," the American said. "But I'll certainly talk to her and see if she's interested." Allen is scheduled to meet with Bruni-Sarkozy and her husband, President Nicolas Sarkozy, at the Elysée during his trip to France. Although Bruni-Sarkozy has oft said she will not perform publicly during her husband's time as president, she has already agreed to sing at a benefit concert in New York in July. Whatever her feelings about acting may be today, they could be different by the end of her tête-à- tête with M. Allen.
