Say a few words about yourself
Caroline Nin is a classic femme fatale, one who charms, intrigues and fills your imagination with a plethora of images, stories and memories through her mesmerizing personality.
Born in France, the Parisian-based Nin’s debut in the late 80s at The Hollywood Savoy in Paris’ glamorous Opera district, quickly garners her a loyal following.
She moves to London in the early 90s to, as she admits, improve her English and become and “International Jazz Singer”.
A strong French backgroung nevertheless always transpires in Caroline Nin’s oeuvre and it is at the Pleasance Theatre for the 1998 Edinburgh Festival, that she continues to captivate and entice her audiences, subsequently winning a Herald Angel award for her cabaret spectacular “The Last Show” featuring scores from Piaf, Dietrich, Minelli and Brel.
In 2001, Nin moves back to Paris to take up a residency at the City of Light’s most famous cabaret venue Le Lido on The Champs Elysées.
In 2002, Caroline is invited to perform her “HYMNE A PIAF” show for the first time in Australia at the world renowned Adelaide Cabaret Festival. Both Nin and her show are met with great success.
Delving deep into Piaf’s unfortunate, joyous but ultimately memorable life, Nin’s smoky, jazzy and sensitive interpretation – rather than impersonation – of The Little Sparrow’s works, includes showstoppers such as Milord, Non, je ne regrette rien and Padam.
Since its inception the show has been presented as far as the Sydney Opera House and the Royal Festival Hall in London.
A two-month tour of the UK in early 2011 culminates in an invitation by Ronnie Scotts to perform her signature and by now, much acclaimed show.
In June 2011, Caroline returns to the Melbourne Recital Centre, where the show receives multiple standing ovations from the 1200-strong audience at the Elizabeth Murdoch Hall, and is nominated for HELPMANN AWARDS 2012 – Best Cabaret Artist.
Requests to take her shows to New York and Canada, are deferred with Nin taking up a one-year exclusive residency at the Lido de Paris, where she has performed 6 nights a week.
Caroline presents for the first time in Paris, her show "Hymne A Piaf" in early 2013. After a 2 years sold-out season in her home town, the show can now Premiere in New York City at the prestigious Metropolitan Room in late October this year.
