The Middle School of Academic and Athletic Excellence on the Upper West Side of Manhattan is seeking a lead teacher for its French Dual language program. This small school of only 160 students grades six through eight, located on the edge of Central Park requires a creative and collaborative individual. In its second year at MS 256, the program requires incoming students to be fluent / literate in both English and French. The teacher would be responsible for teaching French Literature (native language arts) and social studies in French daily to a sixth and seventh grade class; therefore a native French speaker is preferred (not required). Working closely with the French Embassy, parents, and NYC community at large, MS 256 is enthusiastic and dedicated to educating our dual language students with rigor and relevance through the lens of multicultural education.  If you are interested in the position or know anyone that might be interested, please email me at bzager@schools.nyc.gov.  Thanks!
