Aquatic Director Wanted for French-Speaking Day Camp
Job: Part-time (2 afternoons per week) Aquatic Director
Location: PS 58, Carroll Gardens, and PS 84, Upper West Side
Dates: July 9 through August 31, 2012 (8 weeks total)
Hours: Pool activities are expected to occur from 1:30 P.M to 3:30 P.M once a week for each camp
Requirements:
- Must be 21 or older
- Have a minimum of:
- One Season of previous experience as a camp aquatics director at a New York State children’s camp; or
- Two seasons of previous experience consisting cumulatively of at least 12 weeks as a children’s lifeguard, at a swimming pool or bathing beach which had more than one lifeguard supervising it at a time; or
- At least 18 weeks of previous experience as a lifeguard, at a swimming pool or bathing beach which had more than one lifeguard supervising it at a time
- Complete a training course in Lifeguard Supervision and Management (contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS for more information)
- Possess a current CPR for the Professional Rescuer (acceptable for only one year)
Preferred:
- Candidates should be personable, energetic (not afraid of physical activities), responsible, team oriented and creative
- Camp environment is relaxed, stimulating, fun and nurturing; looking to hire someone with that perspective and vision
- Previous experience working with children, ages 4 – 11
- All staff must be dedicated to make everyday a wonderful experience for campers. Having fun yourselves is greatly encouraged
- Comfortable with peer collaboration
- All camp activities are conducted in French and our priority is to find an Aquatic Director comfortable with French. The use of English is kept to a minimum.

Selection Process:
Interviews will be conducted in February. All staff members are required to attend all orientation and training sessions before camp starts.
