Appreciate any ideas on this....My 5yo daughter is in K in public school. I'd like her to attend a bilingual school but she doesn't currently speak French. There is only one school that offers a transition program at the 1st grade level and they're not running it next year. My understanding is that most schools require kids to already be speaking French. It seems crazy to me that at the age of 5 her chances of ever attending a bilingual school are nearly zero.I realize you can do things like enroll children in 1h/week language classes and things like that. However, I think most members of this group know that immersion and many hrs is the only real way to learn a language. My question is, what are your thoughts about hiring a private tutor (one who with certified elementary school credentials) to teach my DD 3-4 days a week with a specifically tailored curriculum for after-school at my home? Has anyone seen that work or have any other ideas?TIA!
