Lecture by Olivier Wieviorka
Moderated by Professor Robert O. Paxton
The French Resistance remains a legend in France today, but its history differs from the myth. Olivier Wieviorka discusses the internal divisions within the Resistance, assesses its efficacy , and examines why the Resistance did not become a more widespread phenomenon in occupied France. Olivier Wieviorka’s new Histoire de la résistance: 1940-1944 will be published by Perrin in January 2013. Wieviorka is a historian and Professor at the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan.
