TEACH EUROPE SEMINARS 2010-11

  The Teach Europe Coalition offers yearly seminars at Rutgers,
Columbia, Yale, and elsewhere that provide participants with fair and
updated information about the European Union, its multicultural
nature, its recent history, economy, role, and impact on today's
world, and its relations with the United States. It is a unique
chance for educators to meet specialists of European life and culture
and of the European Union and to exchange knowledge and experience.  A
pedagogical resources kit, for direct classroom use, is given to all
participants.  THIS YEAR, THE RESOURCES GIVEN OUT AT THE YALE EVENT
WILL INCLUDE A COPY OF TIMOTHY SNYDER?S CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED
BEST-SELLER /BLOODLANDS:  EUROPE BETWEEN HITLER AND STALIN/.  You can
choose to receive this remarkable text either as a book or via Kindle.

The Teach Europe seminars are designed for K-12 and community college
teachers of Social Studies, Art, History, Geography, French, German,
Italian, Spanish, or any other European language. No previous
training in European studies is necessary.

A set of breakout workshops will be preceded by a keynote speech
focusing on one of the main themes for the day and will be/ /followed
by a convivial European lunch and a panel discussion to open up the
debate. At every seminar day, participants will work with professors
and will be exposed to innovative teaching strategies.

  FEE:  $25 for the day, which includes all texts, materials, coffee,
lunch, and the resource kit.  The fee can be paid either by mail to
the Coalition at AATG or at the door on the 5th.

the program, up to 0.4 CEUs will be granted to participants.
