  • EDITH PIAF AT 100: A celebration of her Centennial

  • Jun 9, 2015 at 4:00pm to Jul 13, 2015 at 5:30pm
  • Location: Drom NYC & the Metropolitan Room
  • Description:

Come to our new cabaret show telling Piaf’s story through song, circus and burlesque!

On JUNE 9TH at 8pm (doors at 7pm) and JULY 13TH at 9.30pm (doors at 9pm), I will happily guide you through the decadent world of Edith Piaf using her timeless songs to retell the life of this iconic performer who’ve inspired me so much in becoming an artist. Accompanied by a traditional musette band and multi-disciplinary backup singers, I will recreate the brothels, circuses and nightclubs that created the great Piaf we all know. The performance will last 60-70 minutes.

2015 marks Edith Piaf’s centennial. ‘La Môme Piaf’, as she was nicknamed, introduced America to the world of ‘Chanson Réaliste’. Her songbook has become classic and still engages audiences worldwide. However, her early life is shrouded in mystery – daughter of a circus performer, childhood in a brothel, blind for years and ‘miraculously’ cured by a pilgrimage St. Therese – these stories and more are brought to life with music, dance

  • French Theatre Summer Camps

  • Jul 5, 2015 to Jul 31, 2015
  • Location: Brooklyn and Manhattan
  • Description:

  • Location: Caffe Vivaldi
  • Description:
Greenwich Village’s iconic place Caffe Vivaldi, is the home for classical music afternoons with pianist Emir GAMSIZOGLU and his organization “Classical for All”. Throughout July and August the series will feature the poet of the piano Frederic Chopin and French composers; Debussy, Saint-Saens, Eric Satie, Ravel, Faure and Rameau.

“Caffe Vivaldi with its European flare has the perfect atmosphere for such a program” says Emir Gamsızoğlu and adds “That being said, this is the most casual classical music atmosphere in town”. Gamsizoglu’s moniker is “Chatty Pianist” because he loves talking about the composers and their works in between his piano performance. His concerts attract the attention of music lovers from all ages and backgrounds.www.emirgamsiz.com
