  • Description:

Cohen Media Group is proud to announce the upcoming release of Cédric Klapisch’s CHINESE PUZZLE, the New York-set third installment in Mr. Klapisch’s popular trilogy, scheduled to open in New York (Lincoln Plaza) and Los Angeles on Friday, May 16 followed by a national roll out.

Years after L'Auberge Espagnole  and Russian Dolls, Xavier (Romain Duris)’s life is still a mess. His ex-wife Wendy (Kelly Reilly) has left him in Paris and taken their kids to New York. Always up for an adventure, broken-hearted Xavier follows them to the city and begins to piece together a life for himself amidst the cheerful chaos of downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn. An imminent deadline for his new novel, the realities of immigration, his ex girl-friend, Martine (Audrey Tautou) and best friend Isabelle (Cécile de France,) add to the vibrant jumble in this comically delightful conclusion to Cédric Klapisch’s trilogy. Now 40 years-old, the characters have left a bit of their naiveté and carefree attitude behi

  • Location: Lincoln Plaza Cinema and Angelika Film Center
  • Description:

Adopt Films is proud to announce the release of VIOLETTE, Martin Provost's (Séraphine, winner of 7 César Awards) drama spanning 20 years in the complex life and work of trailblazing French feminist author Violette Leduc (Emmanuelle Devos, Kings & Queen, in a searing performance) and her relationship with the legendary Simone de Beauvoir (Sandrine Kiberlain).  VIOLETTE is scheduled to open in NY on Friday, June 13 at Lincoln Plaza Cinema and Angelika Film Center, followed by a national release.

Violette Leduc, born out of wedlock at the beginning of the 20th century, encountered Simone de Beauvoir in the post-WWII years in St-Germain-des-Prés. The intense relationship between the two women would last their entire lives, a relationship based on the quest for freedom through writing for Violette and for Simone, on the conviction that she held the fate of an extraordinary writer in her hands.

Arthouse darling Emmanuelle Devos won her first César Award for her performance as partially deaf Ca

  • Location: The Paris Theatre
  • Description:

Cohen Media Group is proud to announce the release of writer-director Daniel Cohen’s genial buddy comedy set in the French upscale restaurant world, LE CHEF (Comme un Chef) starring Jean Reno and Michaël Youn. LE CHEF is scheduled to open in the US on June 20 in New York at The Paris Theatre followed by a national roll out.

Star chef Alexandre Lagarde (Jean Reno) is struggling to keep his multi-starred restaurant, Cargo Lagarde, afloat and is in serious conflict with its new CEO/owner Stanislas Matter (Julien Boisselier) who wants to replace him with a young trendy chef who specializes in the latest craze of molecular gastronomy.  Running out of ideas for his new menu Lagarde crosses paths with Jacky Bonnot (comedian and TV personality Michaël Youn, Around the World in 80 Days), an impassioned new chef with the right intentions who keeps getting fired from restaurants.  Working with the legendary Lagarde could be the one thing to turn Bonnot's life around but only if he can get Lagarde

  • YVES SAINT LAURENT

  • Jun 24, 2014 to Aug 29, 2014
  • Location: Film Forum
  • Description:

The Weinstein Company is proud to announce the release of  YVES SAINT LAURENT, directed by Jalil Lespert, and starring Pierre Niney as the legendary fashion designer.  The young design genius who left French Algeria as a teenager to work for Christian Dior, took over the House of Dior at age 21 in January 1958. He and his partner, Pierre Bergé, famously launched their own fashion label in 1962, and the rest is history.   YVES SAINT LAURENT is scheduled to open in New York and Los Angeles on Wednesday, June 25 followed by engagements nationwide.

Brilliantly capturing YSL’s shyness, charm, and artistic bravado, Pierre Niney morphs into the role without so much as a wrinkle. Drawing upon a vast archive of original material (made available to the production by the 83-year-old Pierre Bergé -- 5,000 dresses, 15,000 accessories, and 35,000 sketches), director Jalil Lespert puts the designer’s groundbreaking work on screen. Still gloriously beautiful are his Mondrian dresses, tuxedos for wome

When artists pour extensive care into their work, the combination of imagination and painstaking attention to detail creates an overwhelming energy tangible to the viewer. Where some works are more ethereal, others are firmly tethered to reality, and others fall between. Yet, each work possesses an intuitive, visceral appeal as mind meets matter so powerfully.

  • Location: Ballet des Amériques
  • Description:

Ballet des Amériques is pleased to announce its 2014 Summer Intensive program. Summer intensives have a long tradition in the world of dance - bridging the gap between the spring and fall semesters - but also fulfilling a complementary role with respect to the regular school curriculum: Largely free from academic obligations, students are able to concentrate on dance and make leaps of progress in training, iron out weaknesses, and consolidate what was achieved during the academic year. Quite importantly, the warmth of the summer months makes for greatly increased flexibility, which, when intensely exercised, can propel students to a higher level. Please consult the schedule below.

    Summer Intensive 1 (3-week program; July 7 - July 25)
Elementary - Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM

  • Floanne returns to Joe's Pub with "Love is French"

  • Jul 14, 2014 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Location: Joe's Pub
  • Description:

Bastille Day is France’s “Independence Day” celebrated each year on July 14 to celebrate the beginning of the French revolution in 1789. For the third year, the playful and seductive Floanne is presenting her solo concert at Joe’s Pub to ravish the ear of the francophile and culturally curious New Yorker. Her new program “Love Is French” weaves vintage songs into a didactic presentation, dissecting with humor and wisdom the cliché that romances can be. “The last time I felt shivers down my spine was at Floanne’s concert. Her voice is very unique with a ‘je ne sais quoi’ hypnotizing effect.” -Agathe Lerolle, She is French

Floanne is a songstress performing retro tunes with a modern twist. A refreshing blend of farm girl and urban actress, she is inspired by an eclectic range of performers and musical traditions. Known in the nightclub scene as an interpreter of French chanson and the Edith Piaf repertoire, Floanne is backed by some of New York's top jazz improvisers. Passionate about lyr
