Together, they’re creating IRIBA CENTER FOR MULTIMEDIA HERITAGE in Kigali, Rwanda. IRIBA Center, whose name means “the source” in Kinyarwanda, will gather a century of Rwanda’s audiovisual history from sources in Africa and Europe to make it free and accessible to the public.

Since 1994, all Rwandans share genocide as their central legacy. Nearly two decades later, as they search for a path to long-lasting recovery and peace, discovering -or re-discovering- their common history and cultural identity is essen

Written, directed and produced by René Féret, MOZART’S SISTER is a re-imagined account of the early life of Maria Anna “Nannerl” Mozart (played by Marie Féret, the director’s daughter). Nannerl is five years older than Wolfgang (David Moreau) and a musical prodigy in her own right. Originally the featured performer, she gives way to Wolfgang as the main attraction as their father Leopold (Marc Barbe) tours his talented offspring before the royal courts of pre-French Revolution Europe. Forbidden to play the violin or compose as she approaches marriageable age, Nannerl chafes at the limitations imposed on her gender. But a friendship with the son and daughter of Louis XV offers her ways to challenge the established sexual and social order...

  • Tiken Jah Fakoly a New York

  • Aug 19, 2011 at 7:00pm to Aug 20, 2011 at 12:00am
  • Location: SOB's [Sounds of Brazil]
