  • Atelier Francophone

  • Jun 6, 2011 at 4:15pm to Jul 25, 2011 at 6:00pm
  • Location: Pearl studios, 519 8th Avenue
  • Description:

    “THE NAMES OF LOVE”

    (LE NOM DES GENS)

Baya (Sara Forestier) is a young liberal who takes the old hippie slogan “Make love, not war” literally -- converting right-wing men to her lefty political causes by seducing them!  She enjoys exceptional results until she meets Arthur (Jacques Gamblin), an angst-ridden, middle aged, Jewish, middle-of-the road scientist. Bound by common tragic family histories (the Algerian War and WWII under the Vichy Regime), the duo improbably fall in love. In this unexpected, enchanted love story, filmmaker Michel Leclerc offers bubbly amour, sexy humor and moments of sheer madness, with an injection of savvy commentary on hot-button sociopolitical issues like Arab-Jewish relations, anti-Semitism, immigration, and racial and cultural identity.
