The original work of two juror-selected innovative and talented French artists Juan Urbèt and Yvon Buchmann will be on display at Agora Gallery, NYC in The Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition.

About Juan Urbèt

Juan Urbèt's compositions, which can often be small in format, speak to intimacy and isolation with a raw emotional, urban energy. With limited colors and empty spaces, his pieces could be considered subdued, however they burst with energy with their graffiti-style interruptions: symbols, squiggles, and words that contextualize and caption lone subjects in uncertain worlds.

Trained in both Fine Arts and Business Administration, Urbèt uses mixed media on canvas, board, and paper to create extraordinary, tangible textures. His materials, technical skill, and impromptu methods all contribute to establishing the raw emotion and expressive character of his works.

About Yvon Buchmann

“For me,” Yvon Buchmann says, “photography is capturing fleeting moments,” and in his pictures, those fleeting moments are effectively captured. The artist notes that his goal is to show the simplicity and poetry of everyday life, and in his elegantly composed black-and-white photographs even the most casual scenes are given a presence that makes them compelling.

Along with his powerful graphic sensibility, Buchmann’s talent at manipulating light and focus brings the lines of modern buildings, as well as landscapes and the faces of people, vividly to life, creating images that make an immediate emotional connection.

About the Exhibition

The Exhibition of Selected Artwork from the 30th Chelsea International Fine Art Competition

Twenty-eight artists from eighteen countries are bringing their award-winning art to NYC to participate in the Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition. These artists were all selected by a jury of art experts for their vision and skill in their chosen fields. Incorporating photography, sculpture, painting, and mixed media, the artworks display unprecedented quality and mastery. This year marks the thirtieth year of the competition, and the international panel of seven jurors include curators, professors, appraisers, gallerists, and one museum president, bringing their unique art expertise to the selection process. It is no wonder, therefore, that the works chosen for the exhibition are comprised of such a skilled set of contemporary fine artists.
