Francophiles Take Over Williamsburg for Galette Des Rois Fête

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEContact: Sam MaherPhone: 917-747-3043Email: samteachesfrench@gmail.comFRANCOPHILES TAKE OVER WILLIAMSBURG“Galette Des Rois” Party Hosted By Entrepreneurial TeacherFrench and French-lovers alike will be convening at The Richardson in Williamsburg on Friday, January 22nd from 6:30-8:30pm for the first annual “Galette Des Rois” Party, which is a French tradition celebrating l’Epiphanie (the arrival of the Three Wise Men in Bethlehem). Taking center stage at the party will be a large pastry-like cake that has a fève (small prize) somewhere inside. Whoever receives the slice of cake containing the trinket will be crowned the Roi or Reine for the evening and has certain privileges unbeknownst to them. Think New Orleans king cake celebrations, but with Kir Royales and Edith Piaf and Serge Gainsbourg crooning in the background.The mastermind behind this upcoming celebration is Sam Maher, a local French instructor who has been teaching out of a spacious studio in the heart of Williamsburg for the last few years. Sam rose out of anonymity amongst French students as “SamTeachesFrench” when he began offering small classes with flexible schedules and affordable rates to all levels of French speakers, from the basic beginner to the advanced student.A graduate of New School University, Sam has distinguished credits in advanced-level French at the French Institute:Alliance Française (FIAF) in New York City and the Alliance Française de Paris, as well as L’Institut de Langue et de Culture Françaises at L’Institut Catholique de Paris.Sam prides himself on creating a casual, non-intimidating learning environment for his students, which costs a third less than other French language schools. As a non-native speaker, Sam has the unique ability to sympathize with the problems that non-French speakers encounter as they delve into a new language and constantly gives tips and advice on the “hows” and “whys” of often frustrating grammar and pronunciation issues during his classes.Using innovative teaching methods and focusing on everyday, relevant and current French language is what makes Sam’s classes so special, energetic and fun. As part of his rogue pedagogy, he decided to host the Galette Party to introduce his students from many different classes to each other so they can make connections, set up study groups and generally socialize with other Francophiles, all while learning first-hand about French culture.The Galette Party is just one of many upcoming events in SamTeachesFrench’s future.
