Floanne is the French Madonna —TimeOut NY

Undeniably effective renditions —Peter Leavy, Cabaret Scenes

A new «little sparrow» has landed. Ankah infuses her daringly dramatic evocation of Piaf’s art with a
contemporary energy and rhythm. —Broadway World

French actress and singer Flo Ankah recounts the Piaf story. This authentic ‘chanteuse’ and farm girl opens
the door to her culture, by taking a closer look at the legendary ‘Little Sparrow’ —with that husky, mournful
voice so popular in the 1940’ and 50’s. The performance is a culturally rich and moving presentation that will
make you smile, with tunes transporting you to other times and places.

Yes, both Floanne and Edith Piaf will be attending the rendez-vous in a medley of vintage tunes from their
native France… with a modern twist. She will embody the legend, interpreting the melodies from her point of
view as a child, imagining Piaf’s characters coming to life. Down to earth, sensual and bohemian as her belo-
ved Edith, Floanne will make you discover her poignant music and share her unconventional life.

Floanne has been reviving the tradition of French Music Hall, performing Chanson, as well as original compo-
sitions. She is returning at the Metropolitan Room for a monthly residency where she has performed sold-out
shows. She has been working with a rotating band of Jazz musicians, this month will be with musical direc-
tor/accordion Benjamin Ickies, guitar Marcel Van Dam and percussion Mario Monaco. This marks Floanne’s
first time collaboration with theater director Alice Jankell, who is lending a cutting edge presentation to the
cabaret form: the promise of an unconventional cabaret presentation.

Flo Ankah is a New York actress working on stage, film and television (Then She Found Me, One Life to Live,
The Hunchback of Notre-Dame), her voice is featured on major feature films and numerous international com-
mercials, she has performed at venues such as The Public Theater and the Guggenheim Museum. Her vocal
repertoire includes French classics, original compositions, and she continues to train as a coloratura soprano
with April Evans. Floanne learned her craft as a nightclub singer with Daniel Isengart and Lina Koutrakos. She
has performed her critically acclaimed cabarets at monthly residencies around town and on NPR.
