Celebrate Bastille Day with a family screening of Mon oncle, the beloved 1958 comedy directed by Jacques Tati, at L’Alliance New York’s Florence Gould Theater on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 1:30 PM!
In Jacques Tati’s first color film, the endearingly clumsy Monsieur Hulot returns, once again finding himself at odds with the advancements of modern life. Hulot is hilariously out of place in his sister’s geometric, mechanized home, where residents and guests move with the regimented pace of the postwar era. Only his young nephew recognizes the charm and magic of his uncle’s old-fashioned ways.
Winner of the 1959 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Mon Oncle continues to delight audiences with its timeless humor and unforgettable characters, making it a wonderful film for the whole family.
The screening will take place at the Florence Gould Theater, L’Alliance New York, located at 55 East 59th Street, New York, NY 10022.
