French schools abroad can receive official accreditation (“homologation”) from the French Ministry of National Education when their teaching, curriculum, educational objectives, and organization meet the same standards as public schools in France. Accredited schools are regularly inspected by the French Ministry of Education, and students participate in French national assessments to ensure academic quality.
There are currently nine accredited French schools in New York and the surrounding region. These schools provide an education that follows the French national curriculum and educational standards. Admission to these private accredited schools is often competitive. Families may need to complete entrance examinations, and many schools maintain waiting lists. Annual tuition typically ranges from $18,000 to more than $40,000, depending on the school and grade level.
